More Art Work to Love

I came across some more unique art work that I simply adore.
This online shop offers travel prints, photographs, and inspirational and humorous quotations.
All illustrations are hand-drawn in Adobe Illustrator by the artist, Alaina.
Once upon a time I lived in and taught High School in DC, and my husband grew-up right outside of DC, so I think this would be something fun and special to us both.
But the European series is very cute too.... maybe the Eiffel Tower for my daughter's room?

Another Etsy find was the artist Michelle Armas
I find myself drawn to her designs, shapes, and colors.
Her work seems timeless...

has some unique and vintage looking photographs that I think are fun.

These are all very different in styles, but very lovely in their own right. There are so many different ways to enjoy the talent, expression, and beauty that is in our world... that is what I love about art.

Steve Penley: Modern & Historical Art

I love art and I love history.
However, I don't always love art of historical moments.
As soon as I was introduced to Steve Penley's work, I was immediately in intrigued.
Modern. Bright. Expressive. Historical. Unique.
I would love to have some of his amazing work in my home.

Love how Steve explains his work:

"Each of these subjects has meanings which are imprinted in the back of our minds. By manipulating these images, I hope to bring the viewer into a new way of seeing familiar subjects. In today’s world we have a tendency towards deconstruction. Today’s heroes seem small and insignificant compared with those of the past... I would rather search for the ideal in these subjects and if possible give them a new dignity. These paintings are not documentaries of their respective subjects per se, but simply representations of the common bonds we all share with them. These formal and sometimes stoic images are a great contrast with bright colors and expressionistic brush strokes. And, hopefully this will give familiar subjects new life."

What do you think?
Do you have any favorite artists that focus on historical or patriotic art?

Mila's Daydreams

Are you like me and in awe at the creativity of Mila's mommy, Adele?
Precious. Creative. Memorable. Clever.
While her baby is napping,
Adele tries to imagine and capture her lovely baby's dreams.
These are my faves from the many darling photos.

Home Tour: Robin Tunney's Home

Aside from So You Think You Can Dance and Modern Family,
my other fave TV show is The Mentalist.
I love the characters: especially Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney).
It is interesting, because her character on the show is tough and tomboyish...
not at all like the lovely Robin pictured above in her darling vintage flowery dress.

What drew me to her home, while reading Instyle, was the mix of modern and vintage pieces,
and her use of color: used in an artful and vibrant way focusing on contrast.

Essential Oil: Tea Tree + Lavender

I am one of those people that feels there is room in the medical field for both sides of info: natural and scientific.  We have been blessed with great information and minds that are always trying to help the human race for the better.  I think any product or information that can help us, has a place.  That said, I've been trying to learn more about the benefits of essential oils lately.  I've always known essential oils can be helpful, I've just never really put the time in to finding out specifically what they are good for.  Well, here are two essential oils that I've been using for a few months now that I find very useful and very helpful.

Lavender Essential Oil has an enormous amount of benefits.  Lavender has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves. Therefore, it helps in treating migraines, headaches, anxiety, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress.  It also helps induce sleep, sore muscles, tense muscles, muscular aches, sprains, and backaches. It is great to use with burns, sunburns, acne, wrinkles, and inflammations.  I've used it in the vaporizer to help with a cold or cough.  I've also used it to put on my children when they get mosquito bites. It can help repel mosquitoes.

Go here to find out the many, many other ways Lavender Oil can be beneficial.

Tea Tree Oil has wonderful properties that makes it a popular natural agent for curing all three types of infectious organisms: fungus, bacteria, and virus.
It’s an antibacterial, anti-fungal, and a disinfectant oil.  It can be used for cuts, burns, sunburns, blisters, rashes, insect bites, acne, yeast infections, dandruff, sore throat, congestion, cold sores, and warts, just to name a few benefits.  I've recently used it to help with an ear infection.

CAUTION: it can be very dangerous to kids and even adults if taken internally, so please read more information on it before using. Check here for more info.

White + Brown= A Summer Fave

I can remember when I was a little girl, my favorite outfit in the summer
was white and brown with some white and brown stripes...
I think it has always been a fave.
I love the natural linen look mixed with a fresh, crisp white.
It screams summer to me.
I'm enjoying the trend and mix of white and natural brown in decorating.

Of course, I'm always one for a pop of color!
ALWAYS

ahhh! Aren't those just lovely, refreshing, crisp, and summery?
images: dresses & rooms
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.
I'm not getting enough beach time.  Lots of fun time, but I think
I need more beach. Doesn't everyone? ;)
My children go back to school in one week.
CRAZY in know. We have year -round school where I live.
There are pros and cons to it... that is a different topic.
We need to take full advantage of this last week.
