Spray Paint Happy

I have a problem....
I LOVE to decorate and re-decorate.  Right now, I'm feeling like I REALLY want to redecorate some of the rooms in my home.  In a serious effort to not buy new right now I am re-arranging, re-doing and re-painting many of my old things.  Here are a few of my finished items.
I spray painted the rooster white to make it a little more modern and fresh
The fruit was sprayed white as well and put into a glass jar

The old globe book stopper was sprayed metallic and then
I sprayed on old pitcher (on the 3rd shelf)a taupe color
The pear used to be gold and I sprayed it blue. The Conch Shell was sprayed cream.
(this was taken before the globe was sprayed metallic)
I re-arranged the chairs and moved the taupe to the family room
and moved the dark brown into the library.
I like it because it adds more contrast, is a little more cozy, and basically it is just nice for a change.
I'm off to spray paint some more....

Quiche

Quiche

10-12 eggs
1/2 cup flour
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup melted butter
1 lb. cottage cheese
1/2 lb. shredded cheese
1 tomato, chopped
*crumbled bacon

*I always add to this recipe, depending on what I have at hand. In fact, I've never done the same thing twice! I have used chopped asparagus,  mushrooms, broccoli, peppers, ham, sausage, etc.  just mix it up and experiment.

in a large bowl, beat eggs. add dry ingredients and mix- lumpiness is normal.
add butter and cottage cheese
mix well, then add cheese, tomato and bacon, or other ingredients.

pour into a 9x13 pan.  bake at 400 degrees for 14 minutes
turn oven down to 350 degrees and bake for 30 more minutes

I love quiche and it is something that my children will always eat.
What I like about this recipe is that there is no crust...
I know, I know! Crust is a wonderful part of quiche, however,
when trying to eat healthy, it is nice to not have the added calories and carbs.
Bon Appetite!

Tyke Rider

The Tyke Rider is a clever bike from Europe that looks like a sure thing for my kiddos!  When they're young, my kids never use the inconvenient pedals anyway.
This bike seems to promote good balance by forcing the kids to propel themselves with their feet. How practical and adorable!  I love the idea!  Maybe this should go on the "Santa list!"

**"Begin with Lite, a smaller model suitable for those 20 months and older, then graduate to the more robust Classic (ages 2 to 5) or Evolution (ages 3½ to 6) styles. When it comes time for an actual big kid’s bike, there’s no teary, knee-skinning transition."

Cinque Terre, Italy

Traveling is a major love of my life! Once upon a time I was able to travel 90% more than I am now. I can’t wait for the day when I’ll be able to do more, because I find so much inspiration when I travel. There is nothing more exhilarating than wandering through the streets of a foreign place and absorbing the culture, history, and people.

Italy is one of my favorite places and I dream of going back.
Infact, I'd love to rent a house there someday and explore, photograph, eat, take italian cooking classes, wander in the many art galleries and museums...
Hey, a girl can dream right!~

Cannelle et Vanille

Photos via Cannelle et Vanille courtesy and copyright of Aran Goyoaga

You may already have paid a visit to the site Cannell et Vanille, but if you have not... do!  I love dropping in for a visit and enjoying the beautiful photography, photo styling and recipes.  Although I have not tasted her food, I feel like the photos just might taste better than the food, and that rarely happens!  Seriously! Look at how beautiful those pics are! They are bright, refreshing, and yummy. She takes food photography to an entire new level!

Favorite Rugs

So, let's talk rugs.
We've looked at a few different choices in accent pillows here and here.
Now it is time to look at some great rugs.  It is no surprise, it takes me a long time to actually commit to and buy a rug.  Not only am I searching for the perfect rug but I am also searching for a reasonable price.  There are many rugs I fall in love with and would love to have adorn my floors, but then I meet the price, and walk away...disappointed. These are not all the most reasonably priced choices, but they are a few favorites.

West Elm has the best rugs!
I want a zebra rug and cow hide rug in my house right now!

Anthropologie always has such unique clothing and decor.  I love them!

I adore these rugs by Jill Rosenwald! And these medallion rugs are great too.

Ballard Design always has some great finds! Here are a few of my favorites

All of these fabulous rugs are found at Dash and Albert Rug Company

These rugs are all from Amy Butler's awesome rug line.

This lovely flat weave wool rug with a Moorish window pattern was found on Garnet Hill!

I love this graphic rug
