Porch Planters

I have had a hard time finding the right planters for my porch.
Just couldn't find the right size, style, and color all in one. So, I finally went to
the Homey-D (Home Depot) and purchased the size and style I wanted,
then conveniently went to the paint section and selected a fun, bight yellow spray paint
and adapted the planters to what I wanted.
I'm happy with the bright, summery statement that they make.
I still need to add flowers, but am waiting for the weather to cooperate.

Striped Walls in Mudroom: Gray + White

It finally happened! I have wanted horizontal stripes for quite some time now,
I just couldn't decide exactly where... hall, bedroom, or mudroom?
It ended up in the mudroom and I'm so excited. Every time I pass through our mudroom,
I have a smile on my face. The stripes just make me happy.

**The organizer above is from IKEA and holds the socks and shoes for my 4 kids.
They each get a baskets for socks and one for shoes.
For us, it's hard enough to get out the door even with this organizer,
but it just simplifies the process a little more. Anything helps, right? ;)

***The random cabinet door on the wall is our hidden organizer.
When we built our home, I had them do a cut-out to put in a cork board
so we could have our messy papers hidden:
our calender and all our papers from dance, gymnastics, piano, baseball, etc.
Right now, I'm tempted to paint it with that chalkboard paint so it can be a chalkboard/message board too...

Everything is almost complete...
I just need to find the perfect mudroom rug--
with my track history this could take awhile...
I want something funky, bright & the perfect color to hide dirt since it is in a mudroom.
I also need to hang something, possibly hooks, on the wall above the bench.
But for now, I'm super happy.
We did a little more painting... so more photos later!

My Babyroom

My babyroom won't be much of a babyroom soon.  In fact, my baby is not so much a baby anymore. I wish I could slow down time because he is growing up just too fast.  Baby G has been such a surprise to us in so many ways. He is the loudest baby I've ever heard! He is so full of energy, personality, curiosity, and love. He is such a cuddlier! I love to snuggle with him and receive his slobbery kisses. His favorite word right now is mine.  In fact, he reminds me of those seagulls on Nemo that continue to say, "mine! mine! mine!" Baby G tries so hard to keep up with all the older kids. He will jump off anything, tackle anything, pick-up any animal...basically he thinks he is 7! He LOVES his blankie and demands to always sleep with it. He is such an animal freak and will just squeal at the sight of any animal. I could go on and on with how adorable he is and how grateful I am for him my life. Here is Baby G's babyroom...Oh! and he loves horses as well.

The changing table was found at a local overstock store. I think it was originally a gardening table, but I thought that it worked great for a baby changing table.

I had a really had time finding boy bedding that I liked, but instantly fell in love with the vintage cowboy baby bedding. Sadly, I can't remember where I ordered it from. It was from a store online that did custom baby bedding. I purchased it a few years back when J boy was born.  My mother made the three different amazing quilts for my babies.  I love that she makes all of my babies a special quilt and many baby blankets!

My Children's Play Area

So, today I thought I'd show you my basement play area for my children.
About 2 years ago, we made the space under the stairs into a little "Beach Shack"
and had someone come paint some different beach themed items inside and out of the shack.
My kids love playing in this little space and I like how it doesn't scream
"children's area" but it still is cute for kids to play in.

This room does scream "children's area," but that is ok since it is
their actual playroom in the basement.
My children enjoy Nemo, but we mostly choose this theme
because they love playing "GO FISH" with this card game we have.

We also had a big salt-water aquarium and they have cute small turtles as pets,
so this ocean/sea animal themed playroom was their idea!
I know a lot of people thought I was crazy for using this turquoise color, but I'm glad I did.
My kids really like how fun this room is,
and I think the playroom is the perfect room to use a bright color like this.

My Nightstand + My Bedroom

Here is my nightstand that I have had for about 8 years now.
I really wanted to get a glass nightstand, but can't really justify the purchase,
so I decided to use metallic spray paint instead.
And here is the outcome...
I'm happy because the metallic makes the nightstands pop a little more.

Here are a few other pics of my bedroom.
They were taken before I painted the nightstands.
I'm still trying to find something I love to go over the bed,
but I've been looking for about 3 years now, and just have yet to find the right thing.
That is why I'm thinking of putting up wallpaper.  Now, I just need to find the right wallpaper.
I know, I'm slow.

and this is the normal condition of my bed...
my kids love to play and jump and snuggle.
They love our bed too.

New Additions

Here are a few pics of a new chair and basket/vase from Downeast (a local overstock store that I hunt at every now and then). These are in the library, but I am in the works of turning the library into my office too.  Still working on the organizing of the desk area.  Sigh.

Porch Chairs + Sunshine Dreamin'

How cute is this homemade paper pizza that A girl made in preschool?
She has amazing teachers at Super Start preschool that we just love!
I went out on the porch today in the freezing cold,
and was really missing summer, warmth, relaxing in my chairs, lemonade, the sun.......
(these pics were taken in the fall)

My Basement Bathroom

Here are a few pics from my basement bathroom. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
Weird...I know....It's a bathroom.  But, when I take a little risk in design or color, I'm always nervous to see how everything will come together.  It's nice when it turns out the way I was hoping it would.
