Kobo Candles: A "New Obsession" for Rachel Bilson

Kobo Candles have been highlighted many times in many different magazines and on many different web sites.  All I can say is I'm a HUGE fan of Kobo Soy Candles.  In fact, that is the reason I added them to Modern Palm... I fell in with the book and the cover.  The packaging is unique and beautiful, you don't even need gift wrapping, and the scents are memorable, unique, and fresh.  "Woooow!" Is usually the word that sneaks out after someone smells a Kobo Candle for the first time.

Rachel Bilson added the Kobo Candle to her "New Obsession" list in her column in Instyle.

Kobo Candles are created using environmentally friendly materials and are made of domestically grown sustainable soybeans.  The scents are achieved by using the finest boutique fragrance houses in the US.

Don't forget that the Kobo Candles from Modern Palm were included
Pretty cool stuff.

High Gloss Magazine

I am always amazed at the incredible talent out there in the blogosphere...
with the recent fall of many home decor magazines, there was a void, a void that many talented ladies have decided to fill. Congrats to Paloma Contreras, Erin Gates, Shannon Wollack, Ashley Steen, Kyle Knight, & Lauren Rauter on the new digital magazine High Gloss!  The Premier issue was unveiled today, and so far, I'm loving it! I'm so excited for them. What a great accomplishment, and I'm excited to enjoy those digital pages of eye candy and fill my head with more envy of beautiful designs and homes.

Joel McHale: the funny guy who has the fabulous home!

All I'm going to say is Joel McHale... did you laugh? I did.
One of my fave shows is The Soup... I die laughing. When I saw that his home was highlighted in the December issue of InStyle I was curious what it would look like.
When I saw,  I freaked! I'm so completely in LOVE with his home.
In my dreams! In my dreams! I die! I love!
Never knew he was such a family man, now I'm impressed and like him even more. His met his wife, Sarah, back in college and they've been married 14 years. She had the dream job of a design assistant to Kelly Wearstler, yes, you read that correctly... THE Kelly Wearstler.
Huh! No wonder their home is fantastically wonderful.
With the help of another Wearstler alum, Elizabeth Gordon,
they created a home that is off the charts cool.
Want to see more?

I love the unique, white chandelier and the colored wallpaper on the ceiling
with the textured tree wallpaper, combined with the bright, funky painting.

This master bedroom is amazing and I'm so loving the capiz shell globe lights
and four-poster chrome bed.  They are both so unexpected and unique.

There are so many things I love about this home.
I'm impressed with how fab it is yet still cozy and live-able,
which is so important since they have two young children.

2010 Green Home of the Year: Country Living

Country Living  has debuted their 2010 Green House of the Year in the
World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan.
Seriously, what a darling home in the middle of the city!

I think there are so many great things about this home, beyond the green aspect.
For starters, I adore the fun bright wallpaper and love the unique light to add
a little spice to the entry/mudroom.
I also like how they continued the wallpaper into the living room,
but added a twist with putting the wallpaper on the ceiling. Love it!

What a nice, rustic kitchen. I feel like some delicious pie should be baking in the oven...

I really love the mix of the blue and purple colors in the above reading nook.
And do you recognize the red shade fabric?
It is from Katherine Rally and Modern Palm has pillows and tablecloths to match.

This wall gallery is simply fantastic! Love the simple white frames, paired with bright prints.
It makes such a uniform statement. Seriously fantastic!
If you want more of the Green details on the home visit their site.

Mandy Moore is Stylin' in Plaid: Oprah Magazine

It was fun to see Mandy Moore back in the spotlight and in Oprah Magazine.
I really liked the photo styling and photography that was done with this photo shoot,
and the clothes...Well, I'm always lovin' plaid.

I love these over-the-knee wellies with heels.
oh-so-chic!

Orange and camel are always a fave, especially in the fall.
I didn't realize that Mandy Moore was the voice in the new Disney movie Tangled.
My kids have been excited to see the new movie, especially my daughter.
Now that I know Mandy Moore is involved, I'll be more excited to take them.
At least the soundtrack should be good, right!

Timothy Whealon in The Hamptons

Elle Decor featured this lovely home in the Hamptons a bit ago.
New York City decorator Timothy Whealon purchased this home in
Southampton, New York, "just steps off the main street and a short bike ride from the beach.
The train station is close enough to walk to, so Whealon doesn’t have to contend
with the hideous summer traffic."
I wouldn't mind having this home to go to on the weekends.
It is lovely and fresh, the perfect retreat.
Oh! how I adore those navy denim blue walls.  Amazing!

In the kitchen, Whealon painted the floor as a big checkerboard, and painted the walls a crisp white.
Those floors are just...are there words? Incredibly fabulous?!

I really like the striped fabric mixed with the Batik and Ikat-ish looking pillows.
These pillows remind me of some fabulous pillows found in Modern Palm Boutique... I'm just sayin'. ;)
And just to mix it up, I think the elephants add a fantastic touch to the classic landscaping.

Jennifer Aniston + Harper's Bazaar = Barbra Streisand?

Ooooooo! Laaaa! Laaaa!
Have you seen this fabulous photo spread in Harper's Bazaar of Jennifer Aniston paying tribute to Barbra Streisand? I just love Jennifer, and although I completely do not agree with Barbra's politics, I adore her as an artist. In fact, I grew up listening to her and Neil Diamond.  My dad was a huge fan of the both of them, and so I, of course, loved them too. I still remember Dad playing through his stack of records and us kids dancing and singing to Neil and Barbra.  Her voice is so timeless and soothing, and her music has been a huge part of my life memories.

Barbra Streisand is so iconic. So fabulous. So talented. So amazing as a Funny Girl. I love that Jennifer used her acting skills and performed a flawless job at paying homage to such an amazing artist. I am in awe at these beautiful photos and Jen's portrayal of Barbra.  Talent just oozes out of these two women.

Home Tour: Robin Tunney's Home

Aside from So You Think You Can Dance and Modern Family,
my other fave TV show is The Mentalist.
I love the characters: especially Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney).
It is interesting, because her character on the show is tough and tomboyish...
not at all like the lovely Robin pictured above in her darling vintage flowery dress.

What drew me to her home, while reading Instyle, was the mix of modern and vintage pieces,
and her use of color: used in an artful and vibrant way focusing on contrast.
